3.5 How to stop working IN your Business
“If your business depends on you, you don’t own a business—you have a job. And it’s the worst job in the world because you’re working for a lunatic!” ― Michael E. Gerber, The E-Myth Revisited
This perhaps one of the most challenging and yet exciting steps. One of the reasons many people get into business is to have freedom and control and yet are stuck in the workings of the business unable to get away. A business that requires the owner to work in it is of little value to an investor and is ultimately of little value to the owner. The objective of most business owners is to have more freedom and flexibility and yet they do not trust anyone else to do the work. By this time in the process you should have most of the back office work taken care of and now is the time engage specialists to take on the technical side of the business. Ideally the specialists you employ will be trained to deliver your core products and solutions in an excellent manner and further cement your position as an expert. The next step from here is to employ a CEO or Managing Director who will run the business and provide you with real freedom.
